How To Make Your Human Hair Wig Last Longer?

April 28, 2020 | By bhsadmin2020

Did you spend that last of your savings on a real human hair wig? Great decision! Human hair wigs are an excellent investment because they are long-lasting, quite natural-looking, comfortable, and durable. However, they require proper care and maintenance. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful and confident but nothing in life comes for free- certainly not a cosmetic wig made out of the highest quality of materials and with 100% nature. Below are some tips to help you take care of your human hair wig so that you can utilize it to the maximum and make it last for as long as possible:

Ventilate!

When not in use, store your wig in a light and airy space. Doing so helps vent away all of the collected sweat and grime and returns your wig its original freshness. Storing your wig in damp places or forgetting it in the bathroom (as most people tend to do) can shorten your wig’s life and cause accelerated deterioration. Also, be careful to not forget your wig in heated spaces as doing so too damages the hair. You can also leave your wig off with leave-in conditioners that help hydrate it and make the freshness last.

Wash, condition, rinse!

It’s important that you treat your wig with the same care that you would devote to your actual human hair. However, please note that your wig does not require a cleansing with the same frequency as your real hair- once in a fortnight would be optimal! Use fresh and cool water and apply special wig shampoos and conditioners. Do not wring your wig or be hard with the scrubbing- these aren’t your actual hair!

After the washing, plan an extensive drying session where you leave your wig be and let it dry in peace. After a gentle towel tap drying, you can style it as you wish. You can also style the wig when it is semi-damp- it’s easier!

Dry shampoos > An actual bath

The scrubbing, rinsing and wringing that your wig is bound to experience in a proper wash, while important, may also propel the early damaging of your wig. Dry shampoos are a much gentler alternative. Easy and quick, they give your wig the same cleansing, revitalization and hydration without much effort.

Combing your human hair wig

Combing can be quite a chore, but, you need to demonstrate supreme patience and delicacy as most human hair wigs tend to get damaged following a brutal ‘hair brushing’ session. Remember, these aren’t your actual hair attached to a scalp that will grow back when plucked out during brushing- this is a human wig and every hair plucked damages the wig’s lace. Plus, you paid a hefty amount for this extremely high-quality wig so each hair is akin to a dollar! Use combs that have the teeth set wide apart and are made up of either steel or metal. Comb your wig top to bottom and do so several times but, with kindness!

Kindness, care, and gentleness are key for wigs that live a long and happy lives thus, show plenty of it!
